Children's Books to Adult Classics

I'd like to find children's books of as many of the following classics as possible. These should be short, image-driven, and interesting to a child growing up. My goal is to get the kids who've grown-up with and mastered and cherished the children's versions to look ahead to what the classics might hold, rather than nostalgically look to the past. As with all learnt items, the acquisition of knowledge is heavily assisted by familiarity and comfort with the subject matter. I'll be adding extra books periodically to this list, and links to any children's versions I find. And I do realize that most of these books do not have children's equivalents, so maybe I'll just search for stories that mention those characters or concepts or even settings.
